"A love for fashion was instilled in me at a young age, I found a thrill in daring to be different"

Indie True   was conceptualized from an idea of keeping fashion near to the Independent arts culture. The aim is to present each garment as a work of art which sets to transform the lady into an exhibit. The perfect combination of design concludes a mixture of flirty cuts, colorful fabrics and a dash of edge that ultimately offers a spin on reference to fashion in earlier eras. It is an alternative look no doubt that’s constructed for the sexy color loving bombshell.

At the age of 14, Youngs recalls spending weekends and summer days learning garment construction under the wing of her Grandmother Sandra Youngs. When asked what inspired her to learn the near to dying skill she tells, “It was something I was drawn to as an artist. I wanted to make my own clothes and express myself freely and simply be different. In the beginning I was stubborn about using patterns and it drove my grandmother wild. After gram had  taught me the basics, I began drafting my own patterns. She would watch me in amazement of how I could cut a group of shapes drape them, and construct them together to create a truly unique piece”.

Cassondra Youngs graduated Belleville Henderson Central High school with a NY State regents diploma in 2003 and spent the following year attending SUNY Potsdam majoring in studio art. During her freshman year, one of the schools organizations had planned a fundraising Fashion event which triggered an ultimate inspiration to attend The Miami International University of Art and Design located in downtown Miami. In the summer of 2004, Youngs packed her belongings in her car and drove to the sunny south with a little under $1,000 in her pocket and a solid goal pumping through her heart.

During the last 13 years residing locally to Miami as a freelance designer, Youngs has participated in several local fashion events including Funkshion Fashion Week, private trunk shows and other various lounges showcasing her work. Cassondra juggles the life of an entrepreneur and a single mother of two beautiful little girls. Youngs says, “It has never been an easy road, but success does not land on your lap, you have to chase it and eventually out run it, I’m still sprinting at full force.”

Cassondra currently designs and constructs individual garments out of her sewing studio and sells to clients. You can find some of her designs online www.IndieTrue.com . Youngs concludes  that Indie True will one day thrive with intentions to donate a percentage of its sales to various charities.
